Golfclub Schloss Breitenburg e.V. is located in Breitenburg in the Hamburg & North Sea region (Schleswig-Holstein). The facility has 27 holes. Golf has been played here since 1990.

Location and surroundings

The golf facility is located at Gut Osterholz in Breitenburg and can be reached via the A23 motorway, from the south via the Lägerdorf exit and from Itzehoe via the Itzehoe Süd exit, in each case heading towards Münsterdorf and signposted from there. Covering around 120 hectares, the facility stretches across the transition from marsh to geest: the gentle geest brings avenues, hedgerows and soft hills, the low-lying marsh lies along the Stör dike, and next to it the Breitenburger Moor opens up with its typical ditches. Those playing the A or B course cross the navigable Breitenburger Moorkanal and pass the lock in Münsterdorf with its small boat harbour. From the greens, the 500-year-old Schloss Breitenburg comes into view, the family seat of the Counts zu Rantzau.

The course

The design is credited to Olaf Osterkamp, David Krause.

The first 18 holes were built in 1990, when golf course architect Gerd Olaf Osterkamp integrated the landscapes typical of Schleswig-Holstein, geest and marsh, into the course; the geest holes are characterised by narrow fairways and tree-lined hedgerows, and true greens, picturesque water hazards and fairways lined by old trees provide variety in play and scenery. The C course, added in 2000, was created by golf course architect David Krause: wide fairways and large greens make it pleasant, while dense and tall rough make it demanding at the same time; a special highlight is the island green on hole 26.

Facilities and dining

For practice, there is a driving range, putting green and indoor simulator. The club restaurant “Brüdigams Bistro” looks after your culinary wellbeing with a light-flooded conservatory and an extensive, partly covered terrace, with views of the 18th green and the large putting green.
