Essener Golfclub Haus Oefte e.V. is located in Essen in the Ruhr Area & Westphalia region (North Rhine-Westphalia). The facility comprises 18 holes in parkland style. Golf has been played here since 1959.

Location and Surroundings

The facility is located in Essen-Kettwig on the Laupendahler Landstraße and can be reached via the A52, exit Rüttenscheid, and the B224 towards Werden; the access road leads over the bridge to the other side of the Ruhr. The golf course is considered attractive both to play and in scenery: the first nine holes blend into the hilly terrain, and the back nine runs largely along the Ruhr. At the Ruhr bend, a wide view opens up over the wooded hills of the Ruhr landscape as far as Villa Hügel in the distance, and here and there the treetops give way to views across open fields.

The Course

The 18-hole course has a par of 72. The course was designed by Dr. Bernhard von Limburger.

The demanding course in the middle of an extensive park landscape is based on a design by golf course architect Dr. Bernhard von Limburger, was extended to 18 holes in 1976 and completely overhauled between 2010 and 2013 with planning support from architect David Krause, during which, among other things, all bunkers were reworked. The holes are lined with old coniferous and deciduous woodland, and the partly narrow corridors demand precise play.

Facilities and Dining

For practice, a driving range, practice bunker and pro shop are available. The club restaurant Zum Grünen Löwen at the old castle, which serves as the clubhouse, offers regional, fresh and seasonal cuisine along with a terrace at the clubhouse.

Guests and Green Fees

The green fee is €80 on weekdays and €110 on weekends. Guests are subject to a handicap limit of 36.0.
