About the Golf Club
Golfclub Husumer Bucht e.V. is located in Schwesing in the Hamburg & North Sea region (Schleswig-Holstein). The facility has 18 holes. Golf has been played here since 1987.
Location and Surroundings
The golf club lies in Schwesing on the outskirts of the maritime Storm town of Husum, only a few holes from the historic centre. The facility opens up in the middle of the North Frisian countryside, where the noticeably salty air of the Wadden Sea clears your head. Across 74 hectares, people, nature and animals share the space: roe deer with fawns and brown hares appear on the holes, pheasants frolic there, and duck families circle in the ponds.
The Course
The 18-hole course is rated at par 72. The design is by Donald Harradine.
The Storm course was created from an initial design by the Scottish golf architect Donald Harradine, which the dike building master Peter Ohlsen revised, and as an 18-hole championship course it offers top-maintained fairways and greens, skilfully placed bunkers, natural roughs as well as carefully laid out biotopes and water hazards. Gently rolling hills alternate with flat playing areas and stretches of water, and the wind that almost always blows demands thoughtful play.
Facilities and Dining
For practice there is a driving range and a pro shop. In the club restaurant with its light-flooded conservatory and on the sun terrace with hooded beach chairs, the restaurant serves small dishes from North Frisia and cakes, and is open to every visitor.
