About the Golf Club
Golf Emmental AG is located in Oberburg. The facility has 18 holes.
Location and Surroundings
The 18-hole facility is located at Ziegelgutstrasse 30 in Oberburg in the Emmental, centrally located in the Swiss Plateau and very easy to reach; a stop of the Burgdorf local bus is nearby, and around 200 parking spaces are available. The course grounds used to be a brickworks: where ton-heavy roller mills crushed clay for the production of tiles and bricks, the golf course now stretches out. The former clay pit is now an amphibian spawning area of national importance, home to water frogs, palmate newts, dragonflies and wild bees – even midwife toads (Glögglifrösche) and yellow-bellied toads are native here.
The Course
The 18-hole course has a par of 72 and measures between 4,876 and 5,714 metres. Kurt Rossknecht is responsible for the design.
The 18-hole course (par 72) goes back to golf course architect Kurt Rossknecht, who created it according to the principle "Hard Par – Easy Bogey" – varied, "wonderfully embedded and absolutely fair", with sensational fairways and crisp adrenaline kicks. The holes carry names such as "Easy Going", "Chrotte-Weiher" and "Brot & Chäs".
Amenities and Dining
Practice facilities include a driving range, a putting green, a chipping green, an indoor simulator and a pro shop. Where clay was once crushed for the production of tiles and bricks, the restaurant Altes Sumpfhaus today serves "gluschtige" dishes and refreshing drinks on the sunny terrace – the facility also includes the multifunctional clubhouse "Mürgge".
