About the Golf Club
Golfclub Wilhelmshaven-Friesland e. V. is located in Schortens in the Weser-Ems & Bremen region (Lower Saxony). The facility has 18 holes. Golf has been played here since 1979.
Location and surroundings
The facility is located in Mennhausen on the western outskirts of Wilhelmshaven, in the middle of the Frisian marshland landscape; a large part of the grounds lies within the district of Friesland. The 18-hole facility is only 10 minutes by car from the North Sea coast and set in the rough charm of the Frisian landscape. Gentle hills, wide horizons and the fresh wind from the sea shape the surroundings.
The course
The design is by Christoph Städler.
The demanding 18-hole course was built to plans by golf course architect Christoph Städler/Münster; numerous water hazards and an almost constant sea wind shape this coastal course. The undulating modelling of the fairways and greens is modelled on a gently rolling sea swell.
Facilities and dining
For practice, a driving range, an indoor simulator and a pro shop are available. The club restaurant in the clubhouse – a former farmhouse from 1756 – directly adjoins the golf course and caters for you before and after your round, and hole 18 ends right in front of the terrace.
